On This Day In History October 14 1996

A fun fact from a time not that long ago.  Comment if you remember this moment in history!

On this day in history, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed above 6,000 for the first time in history.

It hit the highwater mark two times prior but retreated during trading session.

Since eclipsing the 6,000 mark, the Dow has increased more than five-fold.
